5 Stars Perfect!!
I’m blown away by this plasma. There is no noticable difference (at least for me) compared to a 1080p version. Unless your viewing distance is less than 8ft. On the other hand, there is not much brodcast in 1080p anyway unless you have more money to hand out..Bluray, some on demand programming that costs extra. This TV is not loaded with all the bells and whistels of more expensive ones. I didn’t need all that. The USB and HDMI ports on the side are great. Plug your USB device or game console into it and view your photos and play games easily. Sharp picture and HD looks awesome. Definitely worth the price paid.

4 Stars tremendous “bang for the buck”
For the price this unit is hard to beat.

First the ‘lows’:

1. It would be nice if the frame was ‘matte’ finish instead of shiny. But most sets seem to be shiny for some reason.

2. When viewing in 4:3 it would be nice if there were some choices for the side bar color. The light gray is somewhat distracting. If I had the choice I’d make them black.

3. “Menu” button on the remote is in an odd place. Normally that button would be set apart like the power button is. This is minor, but still makes me look at the remote to be sure I press the right button.

4. Cabling a little tight if wall-mounting. All A/V jacks should have been side-facing or the recess for them made a little deeper so the cables won’t rub the wall.

5. Wall-mount bracket (included by Amazon) difficult to reach to adjust while leveling the set. This was standard universal bracket, and so would have been a problem with any set. A longer allen tool could have helped.

The ‘highs’:

1. Picture is great. I don’t even have HD or up-conversion yet, and the picture is very sharp.

2. The price. This was significantly cheaper than comparable LCD units, and has a better viewing angle and no pixel drag.

3. Easy switching of AV inputs.

4. Easy switching of video modes (4:3, 16:9, etc).

5. Power light is not bright/distracting. Very subdued.

6. Lots of input jacks allowing for many different sources (including a PC).

I anticipate many years of excellent viewing with this set!

3 Stars enough
if you just want big…with just enough resolution then go with this…if youre picky about getting sharpness/resolution..go with 1080p

4 Stars Great Deal !~
After getting burn 3x with our Toshiba 62HM95 DLP(has a class lawsuit for the defected light bulbs that only last 6 month), we thought is time to give up the DLP and shop for a new set. With tight budget, we set our target to under 2K, 52′ Plasma or LCD, while we debating between a Vizio 55″120Hz 1080dpi 550XVT1A or Samsung 52″ 120Hz 1080dpi VP550XVT1A…we spot this LG 50″ plasma..$799 @ Costco right next to them. We stood in front of this 3 sets for 15~20 min. seriously couldnt see any big difference, the color is more vivid than the Vizio, but has almost the same contrast than the Samsung..yet..price tag is +$1k difference!!…bought it home, rushed and set up with my Toshiba upscaling DVD player with HDMI..wallah!!…..plays the movie beautifully, black has so much detail on it, we have a very bright living room ( long windows from all side, plus high ceiling) this TV still does great job..if you dont want to pay for arm & leg for TV, this is a great choice..!

3 Stars OK TV
TV was not clear when hooked up to my old DVD player (with component video cables) or my comcast cable box. Called the LG repair guy and he said I needed to get an HD box from Comcast which costs extra. So i got the HD cable box now and the HD channels are clear, but the regular channels are still not that clear. In fact they are worse than my old projection TV. I’m not sure if it’s Comcast or the TV. Also, my DVD picture is still unclear sometimes–especially the menu screens. But once you get into the movie it seems to clear up. Maybe I need a blue ray DVD player…but this TV is only 720p…

Bottom line is: if you buy this HDTV prepare to upgrade all your accessories to make the picture clear. The TV isn’t very compatible with old technology–at least this is what I’m experiencing and what the LG repairman told me.

4 Stars Big Picture, Little $
I purchased this TV for a little under $1750. No tax, free shipping, and the lowest price that I could find on the internet made this an easy decision for me. I was skeptical at first with the low price that the picture quality would live up to my expectations. I was anticipating those “blurry squares” that appear (like on my 50in) whenever I am watching sports or movies with lots of action. However, I was quite impressed. This set delivers a clear and consistent picture and for a fraction of the price of other competing brands.

My negatives are mostly minor things, but I decided to list everything I could think of to help those that are “on the fence”. The one thing that I thought was a little pointless are the preset picture options such as “sports”, “cinema”, and so on. I (as well as my friends and family) have yet to find a setting that works better than the default. All others seem either dull or so bright that a person’s face color looks unnatural.

In summary… there is very little that I do not like about this set. Aesthetically, it is a good looking TV. The screen size is ridiculously impressive, and the picture quality I would rate around an 8/10. Finally, the price is right. If you can purchase it for under $1800, I would consider it a bargain.

5 Stars Life is Good
This TV is unreal, 1080P is Soooooooooo much better than 720. No complaints!

Size, price, performance. This TV is easily in the same class as the 3-4k TVS available today.

1 Star Do not Buy this TV
I brought this TV and kept it in my basement. I was waiting for my basement to be completed to mount it on the wall. Once the basement was done, mounted it on the wall and hooked up all my connections..Voila!..No Picture and No Sound. I called the LG Customer service and they sent one of their service guys with bunch of Parts and the service guy after 2 hours of tests and tells me the Part which broken is back ordered and asks me to call the Customer Service again (mind..I never switched this TV on and already a part is broken). The Customer service guys tells me they will have the missing part in next couple of days. I call back again after 2 days and now they say that the Part is back ordered and will not be available for next 3-4 weeks. So, now they want me to fax the receipt so that they can think of POTENTIAL exchange.

Faxed the receipt and still waiting for the response. It’s been a week now and every time I call them they say the that they are still reviewing my case. The customer Service guys are really RUDE and every time i call them has to explain the whole situation again from the begining. Very bad experience and would never buy any LG product in my life.

4 Stars Do It!!!
The picture is great, the look is better than I expected and well worth the price as far as I am concerned. I have a 50 inch and 42 in Panasonic that I love and this is just as good from what I can tell so far. Shipping was easy and only a day later than stated when I purchased it. I would purchase it again and I am picky… Take it for what it is worth.
