3 Stars Good Quality, But Hard to Install…
PROS:
The mount is professional quality and extremely sturdy. It easily holds the weight of our 42″ LCD TV.
The mount allows the TV to extend over 12 inches from the wall and gives a large range of angles for rotating the TV. It was important to us to be able to angle the TV toward the kitchen, sofa, or dining table within our condo. So we needed a wide range of motion. This was one of the main reasons we chose this mount.
Although the mount seems expensive compared to some of the Asian imports, the price is excellent for the quality of the mount. The TV is easy to move around after installation.
CONS:
Installation is a bear, and I mean a grizzly. The entire mount (less the box purchased separately) is attached to the back of the television. It takes two people to lift the TV with the heavy mount attached plus a third person to guide it into place. Most other mounts only require a bracket to be placed on the back of the TV so it can be lifted into place by one person.
The box (purchased separately) is installed between the studs. There is very little room for adjustment to center the TV on the wall. A mount that installs on the surface of the wall is much more versatile.
The TV, when installed, is not centered on the box. If you are expecting the TV to be centered between the studs, it will actually be offset a little to the left. This is actually a plus for my installation, but it was not what I expected.
The box in the wall has a punch out for running cables in the wall and an electrical box. The hole for the low voltage cables does not allow a standard grommet to be put in place. The outlet must also be installed before mounting the TV or you will not be able to get the electrical box in place.
I purchased this unit in an attempt to get a more flush look with the wall. Because the mount is so big, it sticks out more than a flush mount.
I will probably not use this mount again. It is just too difficult for one person to install. We can get similar performance without needed to cut a big hole in the wall with a different style mount. Other mounts are also easier to install. We will probably go with a Premier Mount for our next flat screen.
5 Stars great mount
I needed a mount that had full articulation (sofa and chairs are to the right of the TV, so I need it to pull out ~30-40 degrees and also wanted to be able to tilt down ~5-10 degrees). I also wanted my TV to sit as flush to the wall as possible, which lead me to this Sanus.
I mounted my 52″ Sony XBR4 myself. The mount is listed as 30″ to 50″ displays, but as long as you are under the weight limit and within the mount width of the crossbars it’ll work. Install was easy, and it holds the weight with no problem. I needed to position the TV a little left of center to make up for where the box fit in between the studs to get the TV centered exactly between my fireplace and the side wall. This is great flexibility… just be aware that you cannot shift the TV more than a few inches or it will start to rotate slightly from the off-center weight.
Anyway, mount looks great, works great, and I’ve gotten many compliments. I highly recommend this mount!
4 Stars It’s a good mount, but…
This is a good TV mount, but:
1. The box for the wall does not come with it, you have to buy it seperately.
2. The TV still stands out from the wall about 1 1/2 inches.
3. It was really difficult to attach the TV and mount to the wall box. It took 3 people.
4. It’s pretty expensive, considering that you also have to buy the wall box to mount it.
5. The screws that mount the frame to the back of the TV were too short for our TV, necessitating a trip to the hardware store. It comes with several sizes of screws and washers to attach the frame to the TV, but none of them worked.
6. The frame on the back of the TV blocks access to some of the connections on the back of the TV.
The good points:
1. It is really sturdy. We don’t worry that the TV will fall.
2. The swivel arm makes it unneccessary to take the TV down to access the back connections and run the wires through the wall.
3. It hides most of the mount in the wall, when viewed from the side, if the TV is pushed back as far as it will go.
We’ve already got it up (which was a major project, let me tell you), but if I had it to do over again, I would get the mount from the manufacturer of the TV, even though it was a tad more expensive (but it was electriccally adjustable and controlled by the TV remote). I like it that the box in the wall hides a lot of the “works”, but the problem with accessing the connections is likely to be ongoing and irritating.
4 Stars Good quality, but you need to be aware of a few things
The product literature claims that it fits virtually all flat-panel TVs up to 50″. It doesn’t fit TVs with an 800mm wide bolt distance (which includes my 47″ LG LCD). The horizontal rods that you see in the picture are just a couple of inches too short. It can be made to fit by getting longer 1″ diameter steel tubing, if you have to.
Also, the in-wall box that is recommended (and shown in the picture but sold seperately) is actually required, unless you are willing to fabricate your own alternative.
The quality is great. The instructions are adequate, but could be better.

4 Stars Great Wall Mount – Confusing Specs
I purchased this wall mount for my new 55″ Samsung LED TV. It was easy to install and seems very sturdy. The Amazon listing states “for 37″ to 56″ TVs”. When the item arrived, the packaging said 30″ to 50″. I checked on the Sanus website and it says that this mount is for 37″ to 56″ TVs. I have an older 30″ to 50″ Sanus mount in my basement and this new model is larger, but the inconsistent labling is confusing. I was able to mount my 55″ TV with no difficulty. PLEASE correct the labling issues so that we can buy with confidence that it will perform as advertised.
4 Stars Nice, solid mount
I was shopping around for a nice articulating mount for my 108 pound 50″ Samsung plasma to place above my fireplace and settled on the VMAA26B. While not the cheapest mount around, it’s still less expensive than many of the others. I’ll admit I had some second thoughts after seeing how much cheaper the mounts at Monoprice were, but I don’t think this is the type of device you want to be cheap with either. As many of the reviews already state, this mount came with a great set of instructions as well as parts to fit pretty much any sort of TV. All of the parts seemed to be very of high quality and I did not have problems with the lag screws I saw in other reviews. A word of advice, don’t ever try and do this yourself – you need two or three people to get a heavy TV like mine onto this mount. When it was mounted, I realized the TV looked like it was leaning the slightest bit to one side. With this mount, it’s not the end of the world – there are some screws in the back of the mount that when loosened let you make minor adjustments such as this, tighten and you’re good to go.
5 Stars Good product
I love this wall mount. Definately want to have a friend help install this mount with you. I put it over the fireplace and am using it for a 50″ Samsung plasma TV, dont remember the exact model # but it was the 1080p. I was definately hesitant at first and half expected it to be lying on the floor when I woke up but my fears were misplaced. The mount has done very well and is very easy to move, extend, tilt, etc. I am constantly moving it away from the wall and turning it so I can see it while I am in the kitchen. One last thing you might want 3 people if possible, and that is mainly for putting the full tv/mount onto the wall, my wife and I did it and we succeeded but it was pretty heavy and awkward due to the fireplace, another person would have been nice considering how much money I had in the TV:)
5 Stars Sanus is obvious the leader in high quality mounts,
I bought this a while ago and delayed final installation for various reasons. Found that my stud spacing was 24″. Also, the studs were 2X3’s..and I am cautious about drywall this old.
Sanus systems, upon consultation, solved my dilemma, and sold me a longer plate from their king size model DD 26, and I paid a fair amount extra for this part and shipping ( I now have a spare 17″ plate to store..). About 70.00 extra adtually, still came out ahead…vis a vis the local home theater places. The solidity and adjustability of this model and the telephone support from the company are without any question commendable. I did not buy it from Amazon at the time, (could have been some vendor did not ship outside Conus) but their price is incomparable and I am sure it is the Best Buy at present. This one is not being pushed to any limit. I use it with a Panasonic 37″ in the bedroom and it moves as on a gimbal…meaning nice. I would recommend it. I was not in a position to do the installation and hired a contractor from Best Buy (Geek Squad). It took the two pros an hour to hang it, and the charge was nominal for any house call nowadays. I would say it is well within the capabilities of the average handyman. Was planning to do it myself. Instructions are decent enough. Product is strong and adjustable enough to almost meet a “MILSPEC’ combat strength steel. (Be careful what you use to polish it , as my Gelgloss cleaner caused streaks and rubbed some of the coating off,a caveat for those who rub too hard..maybe stick to soap and water)…
Don’t opt for a lesser quality product at this good price, it is a furnishing you know. Wall plate with flanges and big holes part is a little ugly looking ( if you are fastidious) but not prominent. I think I will maybe devise find a cover for it. And also buy a molding to hide the wires. A bedroom with lots of wires because I shift gear a lot and will be upgrading some components. Since I did not require this bury the wires in the wall my bedroom, not a home theater. I was willing to just pay for labor and a comfort of a warranty. Was worth having someone who has done this before. Don’t pay outrageous prices for the mount when you can save hundreds by shopping on line.Sanus is non pareil… Only up one for use for one day,so will return to remark later if any real problems surface. Hardware was adequate. Weight supported in my case was about 50 lbs. A lightweight TV by today’s standards. I am satisfied.
5 Stars A winner
We have a very small space, this is a sturdy wall mount that not only frees up floor space but it also makes it simple to change the position of the tv many times over the course of the day. We pull it way out when we’re cooking in the kitchen, point it to the table if you want to check out the news during lunch, and in the evening it’s pointing at the sofa. It’s child proof, earthquake proof, and looks great with the tv on the wall. We actually have two of these, one in our main living area and the double armed one in our bonus room, we were so happy with the first that we bought the second one.
